Completed in 2017, this project was the first of MGA's designs that employed an engineering tactic based on the acclaimed Buckminster Fuller's concept of tensional integrity. Mark and his team collaborated with specialized engineers to develop the concept and ensure its feasibility through to creation.
Setting the sphere into place
Installation begins with laying a solid foundation.
It was so cold during the installation that the epoxy set too fast! The team put their heads together and got creative with a solution…

Westwood Aquatic Center
in Norman, Oklahoma wanted a sculpture to serve as a primary theming element that would unite its tennis center and water recreation area.
The goal of Splash was to unite the distinct recreation areas and create a recognizable landmark that would establish a sense of identity as well as a way-finding point. The final design reflects the function of the space as both a tennis facility and a water recreation center, in a stunning, abstracted representation of the two.
