Aeling’s ‘Lips’ Series addresses the influence of material on familiar objects, each iteration considering how material impacts the communication of form. Chromorifice goes further to incorporate the full spectrum of color, transitioning seamlessly in hue to call attention to the lips’ edge.

Made from over 10,000 colored pencils, Chromorifice addresses pixelization. The pixels become ‘hyper-realized’ as they create an oversized pair of lips. This wall mounted sculpture investigates materiality and incorporates the full spectrum of color, which is used with intentionality to accentuate the dimensionality of the piece.
